It was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, and produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian for the album We Are the World. With sales in excess of 20 million copies, it is one of the fewer than thirty all-time singles to have sold 10 million (or more) copies worldwide.

Independence Day (while being mostly considered for BBQs and fireworks) is less often considered for what it really means — freedom. I was thinking about the idea of freedom in the good ole’ U.S.A and remembered this video. There’s a lot that we can be in this life, but I’m pretty grateful for the freedom to choose and to be able to live each day the way I’d like it to go into my history.

Alan Watts was an incredible thinker of his time, and spoke so much truth that still resounds in our day and age. This video in particular is still one of the most inspirational videos I’ve come across and reminds me of what’s important. What if money was no object? What would you end up doing?
